The Leaping Salmon

We have a very simple ethos at The Leaping Salmon: we source as much as we can from as close as we can. Our aim is to offer interesting food, drink and accommodation on Dartmoor that is sustainable, ethically conscious, and good value for money. The historic building itself has been recently refurbished and tastefully decorated, making the most of what the building already had to offer, with inglenook fireplaces, stone walls, beamed ceilings, and lots of natural light. We have under-floor heating, disabled access, highchairs, a big car park, a tiered beer garden where you can watch the sunset over the village, and our very own vegetable garden and poly-tunnel where we grow as much of our own produce as possible. With deep window seats, cosy nooks and a welcoming open bar area, this is a place where memories are made and conversation flows. We’re a ten-minute walk from the open moors, so the pub is a popular base for dog walkers and families exploring the rivers and valleys of Dartmoor. Drake’s Trail, Cotehele, Burrator Reservoir and Buckland Abbey are all close by and well worth a visit. We have three ensuite bedrooms at The Leaping Salmon: one double room with a bath, another double room with a shower, and a family room suitable for four people. They have all been decorated to a very high standard, in keeping with the rest of the pub. Please note our rooms do not have televisions and are accessed via a staircase on the outside of the building.
