Description
Built in 1850, the former station masters house has been lovingly restored and extended. The former station master manned the local railway station for the line between Lanark and Ayrshire but the railway closed in 1964. Situated in a rural location close to The Royal Burgh of Lanark, Station House in Sandilands is 5 minutes from the M74, 30 minutes from Glasgow and 40 minutes from Edinburgh. Only 35 minutes from the Scottish Borders town of Peebles you will pass through the picturesque town of Biggar. Stirling, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs are just over an hour away. Station house offers a rural and picturesque base while you explore Central and Southern Scotland and further afield. At Station House you can expect a warm welcome, comfortable and well appointed rooms, an inviting guest lounge where you can relax in front of the wood burner while watching SKY TV. Free WIFI is available to all of our guests. Breakfast will be served in the open plan dining room using locally sourced produce. Early breakfast is available on request but the usual breakfast times are between 7.15 a.m and 9.15 a.m. Enjoy watching the local birdlife as they feed from the bird table and feeders. There are various cycling and walking routes nearby and for the more adventurous hill walking up the nearby Tinto hill is a must or walk to the nearby spectacular Falls of Clyde. In good weather why not relax on the decking or patio areas and enjoy the local scenery. Lanark is less than a 10 minute drive where you will find local bars restaurants and shops. The popular Clyde Valley garden centres are only a 15 minute drive where you can enjoy a coffee and sample the local cuisine. Why not visit Glasgow and Scotland's capital, Edinburgh where you will find many historical venues. .
