Description
Lydford House is in the historic village of Lydford, set amongst 8 acres of grounds within Dartmoor National Park. The National Trusts Lydford Gorge is a 15-minute walk away. And guests can enjoy the many historical land marks and public trails around this peaceful village, including Lydford Castle, the Church and the Saxon town banks. A grand Victorian house, Lydford House has a long History and has been lovingly restored, keeping many of its original features, and upgraded to offer the most up to date facilities and comforts. The magnificent garden features a quiet terrace and a large expanse of lawn, perfect for enjoying a Cream Tea or just relaxing in the summer. The spacious bedrooms at Lydford House have tea/coffee facilities and most have free Wi-Fi access. All rooms have an LCD TV and modern bathroom, and some have scenic views. Guests can enjoy a drink and the beautiful decor in the lounge with a cosy open fire in the winter. We are an Eco friendly bed and Breakfast, we go to every effort to reduce our use of plastic and choose suppliers who share our values: our milk is organically and ethically farmed Locally at Taw River Dairy and delivered in glass bottles. All our mattresses are handmade locally from Dartmoor wool, they are sumptuous, comfortable and chemical free. We serve honey comb on the breakfast buffet from our own bee hives when its available, and have planted a wildflower meadow for pollinating insects on a surrounding field. The Granite Way Trail (Route 27 -Illfracombe to Plymouth) Borders Lydford House Hotel so guests cycling here benefit from easy access to the path and locked bike storage. Surrounded by breathtaking walks and cycle routes, theres plenty to explore from here: the moorland market town of Tavistock is a 15-minute drive away, the Cornish north coast, South Devon coast and The Eden Project are all less than an hour's drive away, As well as an abundance of Nation Trust and English Heritage sites in the south west
