Despite only gaining status as a full University in 2005 Bath Spa University has it's roots dating back as far as 1852 when the Bath School of Art was founded. Previously known as Bath College of higher education, the present institution was formed when Bath College of Domestic Science was merged with Bath Teacher Training College in 1975.



The largest campus, The Newton Park Campus is situated to the West of Bath in Newton Park near the village of Newton St Loe in grounds designed by Capability Brown and owned by the Duchess of Cornwall.
