" Denehurst Guest House in Windermere is a typical Victorian Lakeland property offering all the home comforts in bed & breakfast accommodation, situated in a quiet residential area well within walking distance of Lake Windermere and local shops as well as several excellent restaurants.

Situated in a quiet area away from the main road and with ample and convenient parking, we are just a 10-minute walk from Bowness and the Lake. The bus and railway station and the village of Windermere are a similar distance away.

We provide high standards of food and accommodation. The service we offer is personal and professional but in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We want you to enjoy yourselves.

In our comfortable lounge, you are welcome to relax and perhaps read through a selection of menus from local restaurants, access a wide variety of information on the local area, including walks in the Lake District as well as books, magazines and a selection of DVDs and videos. " There are many opportunities for walking in the area. Local walks such as Orrest Head and School Knott begin from our doorstep and offer stunning views of Lake Windermere, Coniston Old Man and the Langdale Pikes. Also available nearby are local stables for horseriding and trekking, golf courses, mountain bike hire, and fishing. We would be pleased to book these for you.

If you had something less strenuous in mind there are numerous local attractions to visit, not to mention lots of lovely shops for retail therapy.

Some of England's most famous writers made the Lake District their home; William Wordsworth at Grasmere, John Ruskin at Coniston, Beatrix Potter at Hawkshead. You can visit their houses and many other historic buildings such as Levens Hall and Holker Hall which are famous for their beautiful gardens.

And for messing about in boats there is no better place than Lake Windermere. The Lake is just a short walk away from Denehurst and offers everything from rowing boats to jazz dinner cruises. The lakes at Coniston and Ullswater are just a short drive away "
